April 7, 2014

 

The meeting started at 7:00pm.

 

Russ Korte opened the meeting with prayer.

 

Russ welcomed Willie and Barbara Rhine of the Fayetteville Chapter.

 

Russ Korte gave an update on the membership of the chapter.  Russ gave out the new Membership Directories.

 

Russ let the group know that Jane Cooper would be singing with the Conyers-Covington Choral Guild in May.  He encouraged everyone to make plans to support Jane with their attendance.

 

Jerry Naff gave a review of the Griffin/Atlanta Speedway ride.  He also gave an update on the upcoming rides.

 

Jerry gave each rider a copy of Hand Signals/Riding Safety tips.  He stressed the importance of using hand signals when riding in groups.

 

It was brought to the attention of the group that Bikefest, sponsored by the Southern Cruisers would be held in Covington, Sunday, April 13th.  All proceeds going to benefit St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

 

Russ reminded the group of the charity ride benefiting the Wounded Warriors on May 3.  He also reminded the group that the ride calendar had been updated and could be viewed on the Moo Cow Bikers website.

 

Russ gave an additional safety talk regarding the proper way to pull into gas stations or other parking areas.  Suggesting how to safely park the bikes.

 

A 50/50 drawing was held, with $36.00 collected.

 

Russ gave the Treasurer’s Report. 

 

Russ made a suggestion that the club make a donation to Phoenix Pass.

 

David Jones gave an update on the ROMEO’S ride.

 

Jerry Naff gave the devotion – “The Most Important Question: What significant things have affected our lives?”  John 10:10 …we will have an abundant life.  When we rise in the morning, do we know Christ?

 

There being no further business, Russ dismissed the meeting at 7:40pm.

March 3, 2014

 

The meeting started at 7:00pm. Russ Korte opened the meeting with prayer. Russ Korte introduced the new members and visiting guests. James Castleberry reminded the group that the membership dues needed to be paid by the April meeting.  He also reminded folks to make sure to get the information for the directory in before the April meeting.  Jerry Naff gave an update on the Mansfield ride.  Jerry suggested picking up items that may be used as prizes for the 50/50 when we go on various trips. Kurt Dupue gave the safety report.  Reminding everyone to make sure the tires on their bikes are in good condition before riding. Diann Marlow gave the Charity Development report. James Castleberry gave the treasurer’s report.  James reminded the “ROMEO’S” (Retired Old Men Eating Out) that they would be riding during the week for breakfast or lunch.  Russ thanked everyone for their involvement in the Family Promise Spirit Night, he stated that this was the most attendance to date.  A 50/50 drawing was held, with $66.00 collected.  Jerry Naff gave the devotion, Romans 3:23; Romans 7; Romans 8:12.  Think of others before ourselves and let the Spirit live through us as a group.  Russ reminded the group that the Moo Cow Bikers are on Facebook.  Moo Cow Bikers.org with the Conyers rides in blue and the Fayetteville rides in red.  He also let the group know that they could review the minutes of the meetings as well.There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 8:00 pm. Respectively submitted, Mary Korte

February 3, 2014

 

The meeting started at 7:00pm.

 

Fred Choate opened the meeting with prayer.

 

Russ Korte introduced the new officers and those visiting.

 

Jerry Naff introduced Cliff Answorth from Harley Davidson.  Cliff donated items from Harley Davidson to be used as door prizes at each month’s meetings.  Cliff heads up the Riders’ Edge Program and also is in charge of the advertising for Stone Mountain Harley Davidson.  He gave information on upcoming events to be held by Harley Davidson.

 

Jane Cooper gave an update on the membership.  To date there are 24 paid members.  Jane reminded the group about the directory, asking that all members have their pictures taken and any information they wanted to be published in the directory to her by the March meeting.  The costs for the directory will be $5.00.  The goal is to have the directory ready by the April meeting.

 

Russ reminded the group that all dues needed to be paid by March 31st, 2014.

 

Jerry Naff gave an update on the ride calendar.  Jerry asked for volunteers to help as ride captains and stated that there would be future training.

 

Kurt Dupue gave the safety report.  He reminded all riders to make sure their bikes were road ready.  He gave everyone checklists that they could use to get ready for riding weather.  His advise was to also think about the destination and the other drivers.

 

Russ reminded everyone that it is important to keep the bikes on the bike tenders during the colder months.

 

Diann Marlow gave an update on the upcoming charity events.  She also gave an update on their granddaughter Addy.  Russ mentioned Phoenix Pass is in the process of expanding and that there would be a need to help furnish apartments for the families.

 

James Castleberry gave the financial report in the absence of Treasurer Carolyn Tingle.  The beginning balance in the Moo Cow Bikers of Conyers account as of January 2014 was $602.28 with a deposit of $294.00 for the membership dues and 50/50, and checks written for refunds from Winshape in the amount of $201.96, the ending balance was $694.32.

 

James Castleberry made a suggestion that some of the retired riders in the group could start meeting to do some rides during the week.

 

James Castleberry reminded the group that Chick Fil A would be holding Spirit Night on February 20th from 5 – 8 pm with a portion of the proceeds going to benefit Phoenix Pass, and asked that we as a group show our support by coming for dinner.

 

Russ also mentioned that Chick Fil A would be holding a Customer Appreciation Day in July and encouraged all members to participate.

 

The 50/50 drawing was held with $55.00 being collected.

 

Jerry Naff gave the devotion from Luke.

 

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 8:00 pm.

MCB Conyers Minutes 1-6-14

January 6, 2014

 

The meeting started at 7:00pm.

 

Russ opened the meeting with prayer.

 

Russ turned the meeting over to James Castleberry who took the time to thank the outgoing officers and to welcome the new officers for 2014.  James also reviewed the new committee chairs – Jerry Naff, Ride Committee; Kurt Depue, Safety; Jerry Naff, Chaplain; Diann Marlow, Charity & Development; Jane Cooper, Membership (in her absence Nance Castleberry will assist).

 

Russ introduced the new officers for 2014.  They being, Russell Korte, President; James Castleberry, Vice President; Carolyn Tingle, Treasurer; Mary Korte, Secretary; Fred Choate, Sergeant of Arms.

 

Russ encouraged the members to think of folks they could invite to be members of the Chapter.

 

Russ presented a copy of the directory for review.  He reminded the group of the $5.00 charge for each copy and that it was the plan to have the directories at the February meeting.

 

Russ informed the group that the By-Laws were very close to being completed.

 

Russ reminded the group that we would have our own ride calendar this year.

 

In Kurt’s absence, Russ gave the safety report – hydration, even in the colder weather it is important to stay hydrated and to remember to keep the bikes battery strong.

 

Russ gave the highlights of the Chick Fil A Bowl Parade.

 

Jerry had each member fill out a Ride Survey in order to get ideas for rides for 2014.

 

Russ read a thank you letter received from Family Promise for the donation of $200.00 that was made by the Chapter in December. He also thanked the group for the other donations made in 2013 to Phoenix and Addy’s Angels.

 

Russ gave the Treasurer’s Report.

 

A 50/50 drawing was collected of $44.00.

 

Jerry gave the devotion – “New Year’s Resolutions – Hope & Change” 2 Corn. 5:21.

 

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 8:00 pm.
